Homebirth should be one of the first options you would think of when you become pregnant. You eat at home, sleep at home and you’re even intimate at home. Why not then have your child’s birth at home? Home sweet home!

Homebirth Tip 1 - Homebirths can be safer for the birthing mother and baby. The BBC news reported about a large Dutch study of over 530,000 births that has found that for low-risk women a home birth presents no more danger than a hospital delivery. Plus you have fewer germs at home, no flesh eating bacteria and a sense of safety because you’re safe at home.

Homebirth Tip 2 - No beeping monitors and you don’t have to put up with all those interrupters (CNM’s, OB’s, nurses). Plus the best of all… no drugs at your birth. Everything you need and care about is right there. You can have control of the whole environment at home, which means if you want to dim all the lights or open a window, you can just do it.  Have the birth you want, it’s your magical event and you can make it as sacred as you need. What better setting could there be but at home?

Homebirth Tip 3 - You can make as much noise as you need and want at your homebirth and no one can shush you at all while getting into “Labor Land.” That’s when you are zoning in on the labor and finding your rhythms. You are going through a very intense and mystical time and what you really need from your birth allies is their understanding of that fact.

Homebirth Tip 4 - This is one of the best tips, You can eat when and what you want! That’s right! No more meals of ice chips. Eating gives you the energy to go through the journey of childbirth! Little side note here… when you want to get people under your control one way to do that is deprive them of food and make them so dependent on you that they will willingly give you control over them!

Remember it ’s your birth, you should own it!

Homebirth Tip 5 - You can wear whatever you want or nothing at all. You don’t have to worry about strangers walking in on you. You can use your bathtub or a little pool to labor and birth in if you feel like it. It’s your home — use it as you see fit.

Homebirth Tip 6 - You can relax and sleep when you want without interruptions. It could be a long day or night, so get as much rest and relaxation as possible during the slow times.

Homebirth Tip 7 - You can breastfeed the wee little one on demand! You don’t have to wait for the baby to come back from the nursery and you have no schedule. When the baby is hungry, feed him!

Homebirth is also fun. Your children should and can be a part of the normal birth experience. The whole family can cut the umbilical cord when you are good and ready. There are three stages for birth and labor. Remember, there is no false labor. All the Braxton Hicks contractions are just helping you along the path to active labor. Every step gets you both closer to holding that new wee little one in your loving arms.

It’s been 9 or 10 long months that you have watched the birthing mother carry this baby inside of her. Now comes those moments where all the times you have been honestly listening and working with her will pay off. She needs you now more than ever… every ounce of you as the birth ally must come into play. Here is a quick overview:

First stage - the beginning of contractions (in most cases it’s the longest phase) that cause progressive changes in the birthing mother’s cervix and ends when her cervix is fully dilated. This stage is divided into two phases: early labor and active labor. Early labor begins with the onset of contractions. This is where the birthing mother’s cervix gradually effaces (thins out) and dilates (opens). Once active labor starts, her cervix begins to dilate more rapidly and contractions become stronger and closer together. Near the end of active labor is the transition phase. This is the part of labor most often depicted on television as the mother completely losing it and cursing her partner, the world in general, and either screaming for drugs or says she’s dying.

Second stage - the pushing portion of labor, (at this stage she will need all your patience and your confidence in the birth process and most importantly… in Her!) She is working hard to move the baby down through the open cervix, through the vagina and into the world.

Third stage - the final stage begins right after the birth of the baby and ends with the birth of the placenta.

Every pregnancy is unique, and because of this there is wide deviation in the lengths of labor. For first-time birthing mothers who are at least 36 weeks along, labor can take between ten and 20 hours on average. For some it lasts much longer, while for others it’s much shorter. Labor generally progresses more swiftly for women who’ve already given birth.

So, as you come to the end of the pregnancy and the beginning of labor… Just start thinking about how birthing mothers’ bodies are amazing. They can grow babies from two tiny cells to millions of cells all by themselves. If a body can do all that, this same amazing body can birth that same beautiful baby. Women DO NOT need to be rescued from childbirth! We human beings would have died out a long time ago if natural birth didn’t work. Trust in the birth process. PostHeaderIcon Pre Menstrual Syndrome 71 - Pre-menstrual Syndrome and Mineral - Zinc

Premenstrual syndrome effects over 70% to 90% of women before menopause in the US and less for women in Southeast Asia because of their difference in living style and social structure. It is defined as faulty function of the ovaries related to the women’s menstrual cycle, it effects a women’s physical and emotional state, and sometimes interferes with daily activities as a result of hormone fluctuation. The syndrome occurs one to two weeks before menstruation and then declines when the period starts. In this article, we will discuss mineral zinc helps to treat women with PMS.

I. Definition
Zinc is the 24th most abundant element in the Earth’s crust and has five stable isotopes. Zinc plays an important role in treating growth retardation, delayed sexual maturation, infection susceptibility.

II. How zinc effects women with PMS
1. Prostaglandins hormone
Zinc is vital in converting linoleic acid to gamma-linolenic acid. Deficiency of zinc interferes with the process resulting in over production of the bad prostaglandins hormone PGE2 leading to menstrual pain and cramps before and after ovulation.

2. Immune system

3. Insulin regulation

4. Respiratory system
Zinc helps to convert CO2 into bicarbonate and the same enzyme transforms the bicarbonate back into CO2 for exhalation through the lungs that helps to improve function of the lung in oxygen absorption resulting in increasing the nutrient and oxygen to the body cells need including the nervous cells, thereby, lessening the symptoms of nervous disorder. Without this conversion would occur CO2 exhalation about one million times slower.

5. Nervous system
Zinc is important in modulating brain excitability. Deficiency of zinc cause abnormal production of certain hormones leading to nervous tension resulting in stress, anxiety, and seizure activity for some women with PMS.
