Arduous actives such as heavy lifting may strain certain muscles in the abdomen or elsewhere that have been put under stress by the procedure. Women may be advised to participate in light exercises after the procedure, however. Instead of running, women may be encouraged to walk. The day following the procedure, women may be confined to bed rest, only getting out of bed to use the bathroom. Women should discuss their exercise activities and their normal regimen with a medical professional to determine if they should continue exercising in the days or weeks following IVF.
For specific information about which activities to avoid following this procedure, women and couples should speak with a medical professional at a fertility clinic in their area. While strict bed rest is not commonly recommended beyond the first day following treatment, women are often advised to take it easy.
