PostHeaderIcon 5 Symptoms of Getting Pregnant (Or “You Might Be Pregnant If)

Welcome back!

Whether a potential pregnancy is a surprise, or you’ve been trying to conceive for many months, you likely want to know whether you are pregnant. Perhaps it is too early to take a home pregnancy test, or perhaps you’ve gotten a negative result but you have a suspicion that you really are pregnant. There are many early physical signs in women that point toward a possible pregnancy. All women are different and so not all women have the same signs. Most women report to having some but not all of the following signs early in their pregnancy.

#1 - You Might Be Pregnant If… you are completely exhausted. Many women complain of extreme exhaustion and when they find out that they are pregnant, they understand where the tiredness was coming from. This is one of the earliest signs of pregnancy, occurring sometimes as soon as one week after conception. It is also one of the most common physical signs of early pregnancy. If you are pregnant and experiencing severe exhaustion, the simple, but often ignored advice is to get as much rest as possible, including naps during the day.

#2 - You Might Be Pregnant If… nausea and vomiting have reared their heads! Known as morning sickness, this common symptom of pregnancy is not just for the morning. Severe nausea can last all day long. Vomiting can be occasional or constant. Often the worst part of being pregnant, this is a sure sign of pregnancy. Some women experience it within a week of conception. Unfortunately, there isn’t a whole lot you can do to alleviate this symptom. Salty crackers and ginger are sometimes helpful, but often, nothing helps the nausea at all.

#3 - You Might Be Pregnant If… your breasts are tender and sore. Discomfort, swelling, and tenderness of breasts is a very common early sign of pregnancy. More annoying than uncomfortable, this symptom of conception could be a sign that you should go get a pregnancy test.

#4 - You Might Be Pregnant If… you have missed your period. Missing your period is another extremely accurate sign that you might be pregnant. However, a missed period doesn’t always indicate pregnancy. Other factors, such as stress, can cause the delay of a period. Even worrying about getting pregnant can cause your period to be late. If you have irregular periods anyway, a missed period is not going to be an accurate sign that you are pregnant.

#5 - You Might Be Pregnant If… you notice darkening of your areola. The areola is the area of the breast that circles the nipple. Many women experience a darkening of this area soon after conception occurs. This is a less common symptom, but still an accurate sign of pregnancy nonetheless.

When you want to get pregnant, you are likely to be hypersensitive to any changes that you sense in your body. As soon as you sense any of these symptoms, you are likely to go take a pregnancy test. It is possible to get a negative result even if you are pregnant. This usually happens when women take the pregnancy test too soon after conception. And, since all women are different, you could sense no physical changes in your body and still be pregnant. Some women don’t experience any of the above signs until they are several weeks into their pregnancy. Some women experience no signs other than an expanding abdomen. The best way to determine if you are pregnant is to go to your doctor and get a blood test. Then you’ll know for certain and you won’t have to be guessing at every little lurch you feel in your body.

Studies show that losing as little as 10% of weight can increase fertility chances. Exercise is essential to losing weight. If you are new to exercise, consider these ten fun ways to get out and burn some calories.

Exercise #1 - Walking Walking is a safe, non-impact way to burn calories. Whether you walk on a treadmill or walk on the beach, you’ll be burning calories. Make sure you are walking fast enough so that your heart is pumping at its target rate.

Exercise #2 - Running Running is a more efficient way to burn calories than walking, as you can burn more calories in less amount of time when running. Find a running club in your area and running could end up being a great social outlet as well.

Exercise #3 - Swimming Easy on the knees, but strenuous enough to burn those calories, swimming is a great option for exercise. Whether you are dipping in the pool gym or paddling in the ocean to catch some waves, swimming can be a great way to add exercise to your routine.

As the muscle builds back up after your workout is over, you are burning calories. Ultimately, weight training three times a week combined with cardiovascular exercise five or six times a week is the best exercise combination for weight loss.

Exercise #5 - Biking Biking is another efficient way to burn calories. You can ride a stationary bike at the gym or hop on a ten-speed and hit the hills. Either way, you are going to get a baby-ready body by biking.

Exercise #8 - Dancing Dancing is a big calorie burner. If you can’t bear the thought of stepping in a gym and just thinking about going for a run makes you sweat, then take up dancing.

Exercise #9 - Roller Blading Popular years ago, roller blading is a great form of exercise. It isn’t quite as efficient as running, but it comes close. Dust your old pair off and take them out for a spin. You just might enjoy yourself.

Exercise #10 - Hiking Hiking is a wonderful way to exercise and forget that is what you are doing. If you live near beautiful hiking trails, try hiking as your form of exercise.

No matter what kind of exercise you choose, listening to your favorite music can help make the time go faster.
